WWWE Logo Hierarchical structure

Hierarchical structure refers to the organization of layers within layers. Hierarchical structure can be seen in a family tree, an organizational chart, or the physical arrangement of files within file cabinets.

Hierarchical structure is used in the directory/subdirectory organization of computer files, the general topics/subgroup structure of Usenet newsgroups, the progressively broader categories of an Internet address, and the various layers of subheadings in a menu system.
